Shapes lets you add basic forms to your canvas, which you can tweak to fit your own needs. The shapes include circle, square, rectangle, triangle, etc.
Upload
When you click the Upload tab, you can upload your own images and transform them into cuttable pieces. This, along with the text, is the only reason why I still use Design Space. It is really awesome to be able to use this feature.
Cricut Basic
This is a program or software designed to help the new user get an easy start on designing new crafts and DIY projects. This system will help you with the image-selection for cutting in the least amount of time spent on the design stages. You can locate your image, pre-set projector font, and immediately print, cut, score, and align with tools that are found within the program. You can use this program on the iOS 7.1.2 or later systems as well as iPad and several of the iPhones, from the Mini to the 5th generation iPod touch. Since it is also a cloud-based service, you are able to start on one device and finish from another.
Sure, Cuts a Lot
This is another third-party software that has a funny name that gives you the ability to take control of your designs without some of the limitations that can happen when using cartridges used within the Cricut Design Studio. You will need to install an update to your software to use this program; you can download it for free. It allows for the use of TrueType and OpenType font formats as well as simple drawing and editing tools. You can import any file format and then convert it to the one that you need. There is an option for blackout and shadow.
Cricut Design Studio
This program allows you to connect with your software and provides you with much more functionality as far as shapes and fonts are concerned. There are various options for tools that provide you resources for designing more creative images. You will be able to flip, rotate, weld, or slant the images and fonts. However, you will still be limited in the amounts or types of fonts that you can use based on the ones on the cartridges. There is a higher level of software features that allow for customization.
Cricut Sync
This is a program designed for updating the Cricut Expression 2 as well as the Imagine machine and the Gypsy device. You just connect your system to the computer and run the synced program for an installation of updates on the features that come with your machine. This is also used to troubleshoot any issues that could arise from the hardware.
Play Around and Practice
You can combine your shapes and images, add some text, and create patterns. The possibilities are endless. The best thing to do is familiarize yourself with the software before you attempt on cutting expensive materials. Start small and cheap - printer paper will be an ideal choice - and cut away. See what works well for you and stick with it.
